Among the under-privileged community, developmentally challenged children are the last to get proper medical service, because they are unable to express their needs and the family has very little hope of respite for the challenged one. More often than not, they are left to their lot and the problem goes from bad to worse. The scenario is most bleak among the rural community, where health care resources are limited. Developmental challenges in children are there in plenty, but go largely unattended.
Community programs have been taken up to reach the socio-economically deprived, under-served children. We now run a multi-disciplinary developmental clinic at Para, Purulia, catering to the whole district as well as adjoining Jharkhand, providing all the services the urban children get.
A 4 day training cum awareness program on Child Development was organised at Purulia Town, for parents, health workers and all other stake holders. This program was supported by UNICEF and the State Health Department. We also organized an elaborate exhibition on child development and early intervention.

Total number of trainees till date has exceeded 2200.
Early Childhood Development Promotion in South 24 Paraganas:
‘Maaye-Chhaaye’ Program DIFFERENCE
Udbhaas enters South 24parganas district (Budge Budge II block) with a new project. In this joint venture with UNICEF we will reach out to 8000+ little children, 0-3 years of age and their parents in Budge Budge II block.
We intend to spread the message of ‘Nurturing Care for Early Childhood Development’ among parents and caregivers, so that ALL the little ones can achieve optimum, holistic development. Why this endeavor? Because a peek into the future tells us that the children who are blooming to their fullest will grow into confident, educated, empathetic and better performing adult citizens of a brighter world!
You may wonder what ‘Nurturing Care for ECD’ alludes to? It is a simple yet very insightful 5-pronged network proposed by WHO, which encompasses Good health, adequate Nutrition, Safety & security, Early learning Opportunity and Responsive care-giving for the child.
UDBHAAS Child Development Unit is working on an unique project on Early Childhood Development in rural India, in the district of Purulia. This project has been taken up in December 2018, in collaboration with UNICEF. Early Childhood Development (ECD) is a major focus area in child health and well-being today, all across the globe. The extensive short and long-term impact of ECD is being realized by all stake-holders. Both WHO and UNICEF have taken up the issue as a major agenda. In this context, our project is of prime importance.
Udbhaas
is honoured to partner with Amar Seva Sangam in the technology based Early
Intervention Program. With this program we will be able to reach out to
children with developmental challenges and disability in remote corners of
rural India and deliver regular state-of-the-art Early Intervention right at their
door-step, through field level workers with the help of updated technology.
After 9 months of activity, the results are truly encouraging, thanks to our dedicated team of therapists and community therapy providers. We proudly showcase here a recent publication of a case series from this project in a prestigious medical journal.
